Damnlien! And the Lost Loot
Platformer, © KesieV 2015
A picture of a waterfall just depicts a lot of water falling over a rock - the sense of unstoppable power of the nature is a message we subjectively add to that image, giving it a meaning.
Now think about a photo of 'garage developers' at work: a bunch of shabby guys, closed in a dusty garage, smiling at the camera but still with their hands on the keyboard or the soldering iron.
What does that picture means?
People following their dreams, making real something in which they believe. For sure. But can you guess why they are smiling? Are they happy because they are having good time? Because they are thinking 'this thing I'm working on will blow your mind, you'll see it'? Because their dreams are making big money and leaving that damn garage ASAP? Because they've all they need or because they are pursuing something bigger?
Now think about who is in that photo. Is that a friend of yours or Steve Jobs?
The concept of 'garage developer' or 'indie developer' as well has clear bounds on what and how they are doing stuff but most of their distinctive (and marketed, sometimes) marks, like its 'alternative philosophy and poetry', is an added meaning that coincides in many parts with the first steps of rising mainstream industries. Two faces of the same medal, which edges are so thin that are undistinguishable.
But think about that photo one last time: why the guys in that photo are mostly teenagers?
Plot!
Damnlien was peacefully collecting coins and gems orbiting around a far planet when its flying saucer broke and its loot scattered everywhere! Explore the planet and get gems and coins back! Use LEFT/RIGHT for moving and UP for jumping. Try to jump under or over objects for activating them. Thank so much to Kenney (http://kenney.nl) for their excellent CC0 free game assets.
