That small park, in Lambrugo.

It is still there and is the same as ever. A swing, three spring animals, few sparse benches and trees. I was around 13 and I used to stay there with friends, mostly browsing magazines and talking about videogames. Marcello was living just one staircase far and he was my personal 'better gaming system' friend - a kind of relationship that any gamer should understand.

I used to play Commodore 64 at home, since my father was a huge fan, but despite its good Ghost 'n Goblins conversion, it really never matched Marcello's Game Boy and its Bomber Boy (1990) cartridge. That's because a Game Boy was an 'arcade in the pocket' - which mixes, in a device I liked to have, a place I liked to go - there were no arcades around, except for a bar mom said I shouldn't go to.

Then he decided to invite me in his home to show me Street Fighter II on his brand new Super Nintendo, and something broke: that porting was so good that I had the same excitement I had at arcade, in full sound and colors, but in his kitchen. So something that was just envy turned into enlightmnent: can videogames break the fourth wall so much that can make you feel to be elsewhere?

A bit later I discovered why that game was so crucial and well done: Sega and Nintendo battled the very crucial parts of console war on that game and its formula is so good that survived tens of years. But that's another story. For now...

Plot!

Is cooking better than retrogaming? Is acting as good as a brand new gadget? Time to settle that! Choose a geek, inspired by some I know, and smack your opponents away! Use LEFT/RIGHT for moving, DOWN for crouching and UP for jumping. Use the A BUTTON for attacking or performing one of your character special moves. Moves are listed in selection screen, where FW is forward, BW is backward, UP and DN are up and down and ATK is the A BUTTON. Good luck!

PS: Whoa! I surely was on fire when I decided to add a fighting game to the Wright! collection 3 years ago: 6 characters with individual movesets and backgrounds and full tournament mode with multiple endings! Sadly I had to respect the 2 weeks time limit and most of the graphics was made in a hurry. I decided to add the crucial VS mode, together with audio and hiscores. One day I'll fix the graphics too... or someone will help me on that!
